Fans have been continuously buzzing over who they feel would make the Christian Grey character in the film adaptation of the E.L. James racy read “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Although the author and the rest of the production team has remained quiet on just who the front runner will be in the casting process, the progression toward making the actual movie itself just picked up a little more steam.
On Monday, it was announced by Universal and Focus Features that “Terry Nova” writer Kelly Marcel would be brought on to pen the film script. The 38-year-old is also a friend and fan of “Lawless” actor Tom Hardy, who just so happens to be one of the front-runners for the role of Grey. Interestingly enough, Marcel and the 34-year-old British heart throb also founded the “Bad Dog Theater Company” in London together.

The character would not be too much of a stretch for the rugged Hardy. He did don the intimidating role of Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” and also pulled off the part of tough as nails British prison resident Charles Bronson in “Bronson.” While the respective roles may have been over the top in terms violence, Hardy did show off his romantic chops in “This Means War” alongside Reese Witherspoon.
Other potential suitors for the S & M crazed billionaire role include “Gangster Squad’s” Ryan Gosling, “Man of Steel’s” Henry Cavill and “White Collar’s” Matt Bomer, amongst a slew of other qualified actors.
The sexually explicit “Fifty Shades of Grey” premise revolves around a recent college graduate Anastasia Steele, who gets herself caught up in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the dominant Christian Grey, through an “agreement,” as they both explore the world of bondage and masochism. Only time will tell who the production team will ultimately pick as the final Christian Grey.
